Career Development in Practice (CDIP)
This workshop provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and practical strategies required to develop and deliver effective career services across a range of educational settings, including secondary schools, specialist and alternative education environments, and community-based schools. Designed for both new and experienced practitioners, the session explores the foundations of career development practice, including career education frameworks, whole-school approaches to curriculum design, professional standards, ethical practice, and the day-to-day role of a career practitioner.
Participants will also develop an understanding of key career development resources and systems, including the Australian Blueprint for Career Development (ABCD), the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Professional Standards, labour market information, and the connections between education, training, and employment pathways. The workshop further examines service evaluation, benchmarking, professional membership, and ongoing professional development, equipping participants with the tools to build, review, and strengthen career services that effectively support students, educators, and communities. Industry-specific and specialist-setting versions of the workshop are also available to meet the needs of different sectors.
